The Continuation of the Matter:
Commanding to Perform Good Deeds and Avoiding the Evils
One of the most important social duties of Islam, which leads to the happiness, security and survival of a society in this world and the hereafter, and is considered the salvation of society, that is “Enjoining the Good Deeds and Forbidding the Evil.” God Almighty says about enjoining the good and forbidding the evil:
«وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتُ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاءُ بَعْضٍ ۚ يَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ وَيُقِيمُونَ الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتُونَ الزَّكَاةَ وَيُطِيعُونَ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ أُولَئِكَ سَيَرْحَمُهُمُ اللَّهُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ» (Al-Tawbah-71)
The believers, men and women, are helpers and friends to one another. They command good and forbid evil and establish Prayer and pay Zakat (the Alms-due) and obey Allah and His Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him). It is they on whom Allah will soon shower His Mercy. Surely, Allah is Almighty, Most Wise.
Commanding to do good deeds and forbidding the evil, observing its conditions, is a religious and public duty to preserve the rules of Islam and keeping the society healthy. This religious ruling, beyond its individual and social effects, plays an important role in gaining power and reviving the culture of a society, setting up justice, establishing a religious system, purifying a society, avoiding hypocrisy, promoting xenophobia and reforming markets. The famous can be of special importance for mobilizing capable people in the society against the enemies.
Commanding to do good deeds to the best of one’s ability and understanding it, is a public and social duty that, by seeing the evil and leaving the good deeds in the society is performed; Firstly, it’s duty of righteous and wise people to guide others. The Islamic community, in spite of the commandment of the good, is safe from the harm or threat of the enemies of Islam, they will protect and preserve all useful, social and cultural values every day.
Muslim nation of Afghanistan, During the years of war, encouraged each other to jihad against the occupiers by preaching and interpreting the verses of Holy Quran, enjoining the good and forbidding the evil. The mere illusion that some people may have regarding Daw’t which may cause some people to be pessimistic about Islam cannot be a good reason to abandon the duty of Daw’t. Commanding to do good deeds and avoids the evil, is a good guardian and has high position as well as values in the Islamic society.
