Islam is the religion of peace and a peaceful life. After almost fifty years of devastating wars, the whole nation, unanimously started seeking peace and reconciliation to end the war. But on the other hand, there was also the concern of the corrupted elements who had already contaminated the whole administrations of the government with corruption for decades, and they could simply misuse the Peace Project (Referring to Doha Peace Negotiations to Form a New Government with the Participation of all Groups) and imposing themselves on the Islamic State. With the courage of the heroic Mujahidin and the support of the nation, those cancerous elements were dried up, uprooted, and the nation was survived from their present heinous. Peace, friendship and reconciliation were the long-standing aspirations among our nation which was the cause of their unity.
Descent Customs
In our beloved country Afghanistan, after decades of crisis, war and massacre, there are still many good national and local customs that make our whole nation proud all over the world. Those historical traditions have brought the people together and led the nation’s ideas tied up and paved the way to solve many political and social problems of the people in the course of time. One of the greatest of those customs is the Loye Jirga, which in the time of Ahmad Shah Baba could solve the political issues of the country and it could appoint a strong and powerful leader to the homeland.
The traditional Loye Jirga means the gathering of the heads of tribes, elders, scholars, influential people which represents the culture and custom of our nation and is held at a specific and required time. Afghan people hate the successive wars which comes from the bloodthirsty enemies, but they are thirst of peace, love and kindness. In such cases, Loye Jirga is a fundamental element to solve the political problems of the nation and can have a profound effect on determining the nation’s fate. The elders of the nation participate in the Loye Jirga with perseverance and unity, regardless of ethnicity, tribalism and political factionalism, but on the other hand, they proved their national willing and glory.
With the mobilization and participation of Elders Loye Jirga, which sometimes includes more than 2,000 people from the center and all provinces of the country, they deal with basic issues of the country in the national and international arena, which the government is not able to decide on, individually. Loye Jirga always seeks to find solutions for the important political, economic and social governmental affairs. Loye Jirga has always been a great help in time of emergency and has brought resolution for the super-legal issues before passing them in the parliament. Because by holding Loye Jirga, the appropriate conditions for national peace in the country, the grounds to satisfy the whole nation, will be provided. Also by holding Loye Jirga, we can make a good System and management along with comprehensible people foundation-based that brings better satisfaction and transparency for the whole nation.
Loya Jirga is one of the traditions that everyone is interested in and respects it. During the various occupations by the Eastern and Western powers, the nation desperately needed to form many Loye Jirga. And it should be mentioned that during the course of history, perhaps more than twenty Loye Jirga sessions have been recorded in our country. Those Loye Jirga have sometimes been a great way for the system to determine the policy of the government by collective decision. For example, in the first and the second world war, Loye Jirga announced the neutrality of the Afghan government in those wars, or another example is the Afghan-British wars, Loye Jirga caused an uprising and general resistance of the nation against the occupiers.
The appropriate customs of the people for national unity are countless. What separates the people is the negative propaganda and the intervention of the evil and power-seeking domestic and foreign politicians. They are always trying to use the pure feelings of the people in line with their benefits and use negative and poisonous propaganda against the Islamic system in order to facilitate the unrest and gain more power. Those hated political elites, who often listen to and represent the arrogant countries, do any immoral and inhumane acts to seize power.
