(Part 27)
Weak Power and its Effects on Disintegration
Corruption was also a widespread phenomenon and a profound issue to weaken the Previous Afghan Republic Government. Bribery was quite often part of the common process of permanent administrative implementations, job application, interaction with the police, performing the judiciary activities, security services, getting hospitals services, schools and universities admission, and in short, all layers of government were corrupted. In addition to corruption, high levels of unemployment and illiteracy were among the causes of the government’s weaknesses.
The transformation of political systems is not only the result of coups, major political reforms, or foreign aggression, but it may also be the result of the weakness, declining, decadences and gradual collapse of the regimes by themselves. The widespread corruption and inefficiency of the government to improve the living conditions of the people led to a decrease the legitimacy of the government and the nation lose hope in supporting the government, and those elements gradually paved the way to collapse the system.
Governments in the contemporary history of Afghanistan had many weaknesses, and this was the factor that made foreign forces interested in aggression and disintegration some parts or the whole country. Our country Afghanistan has been subjected to loads of regional and trans-regional power’ aggression, for the duration of almost 220 years in the contemporary history, and at the same time some part of it has been continuously disintegrated or even it was at point of a complete disintegration during 100 years. The continuous and persistent foreign aggression shows the weakness of the Afghan governments during that time which catastrophically our elites have never learned anything from the history of the aggression of the great powers. Inherited (hereditary) governments, being in a critical geographical environment, endless civil wars, dependence too much on enemies, low level of literacy in the society, the existence of bad political elites (corrupted, weak, ignorant or traitor), the enemy trained-based politicians, excessive prejudices, unplanned-based system, all in all weakened the government and the nation and is a permanent factor in the history repetition for this country.
